Introduction and Dance is a student work in the pandiatonic style from the composer's 20th Century Studies for Two Violins. The slow pentatonic introduction is followed by a vivacious dance using Greek rhythms. In 1980, the second movement of this piece was edited and retitled Mountains of Epirus.

This piece was performed in the U.S. and Greece by the composer, as well as in Portugal by the Portuguese violinist Vasco Barbosa.
