I Never Saw a Moor was written for the composer’s daughter, Lenna, and the Kenilworth Junior High choir directed by Sally Norem. The piece is modal in nature and employs the poem “I Never Saw a Moor” by Emily Dickinson. It appears in five versions: children's or women’s choir, mixed choir, tuba quartet, choir and string orchestra, and choir and woodwind quintet.
