Concertino for Euphonium, Trombone or Tuba and Wind Orchestra was written originally for violin and orchestra with the title Mountains of Epirus. This version was composed later with the present title for Larry Campbell, who performed its world premiere. The piece is modal and employs characteristics of Greek rhythm, syncopated figurations, and polychordal sonorities.
