Concertino for Euphonium, Trombone or Tuba and Orchestra was written originally for violin and orchestra with the title Mountains of Epirus. This version is written for and dedicated to the Greek virtuoso trombonist Achilles Liarmakopoulos. The piece is modal and employs characteristics of Greek rhythm, syncopated figurations, and polychordal sonorities.
