String Quartet No. 3

String Quartet No. 3 is derived from the composer’s work for soprano and string quartet, Evangeline. Evangeline uses excerpts from Longfellow’s poem “Evangeline.” The excerpts recount Evangeline’s immigration from Acadia, Nova Scotia, to the Cajun part of Louisiana, where she and her lover find refuge and later die.
