Concerto for Two Cellos and Orchestra is a fun piece. It denotes the thoughts of two individuals expressed in many ways using a conversational format. As the titles of the four movements indicate, the conversation appears sometimes as a monologue, sometimes as a dialogue, sometimes a beginning or ending. Throughout the piece intervallic relationships control the various happening. Sonorities based on seconds and thirds highlight the harmonic progressions, which influence the direction of the music. Stylistic quotations ornamented by sound effects are also important.

Concerto for Two Cellos and Orchestra was commissioned by Mariana Oteleanu-Amarinei and Constantin Vestemeanu of the Rossini Cello Duo, a resident chamber group in Bucharest, Romania. This piece is written for and dedicated to these two fine artists.
