Encore for Piano Trio and String Orchestra

Encore for Piano Trio and String Orchestra is an extended version of the second movement of the composer’s Trio No. 2. The opening cell of three notes is made of the intervals of major third and major seventh. This cell controls the entire piece. Encore is a typical scherzo movement with a fast rhythmic section, interrupted by a slow interlude. A triplet figure of repeated notes is evident everywhere in a highly contrapuntal manner. Special effects on both the solo and tutti parts produce in places coloring that contrasts the overall vivacious and rhythmic tone of the composition.
