Piccolo Concerto – Assemblages
2004
0:14:25
Picc, 2(Fl), Strings
Piccolo Concerto – Assemblages, as the title indicates, is the gathering of ideas from three diverse scenes. The first, “A Ravel,” is inspired by the orchestral colors of the great French composer. The second scene suggests a simple villager surrounded by his sheep in the meadows as he plays his pipe. The third strikes a military tune in a rather gentle and peaceful manner. The entire work is tied together through combined sounds of the piccolo and the two flutes, with occasional additional coloring from the harmonics of the strings.
The Piccolo Concerto – Assemblages was commissioned by and dedicated to the flutist Iwona Glinka.
