Landscape III for Soprano or Tenor Saxophone, Piano, and String Orchestra

Landscape III is a reworking of a 1970 composition of the composer. It employs thematic and harmonic materials derived from his 20th century studies for two violins. Landscape III is modal and lyrical in nature. Numerous polychords and sudden harmonic shifts highlight the entire piece. The solo part (saxophone) is full of ornamentations and virtuoso passages based on the sonorities of Piano and the String Ensemble. This piece is dedicated to the saxophone virtuoso Stathis Mavrommatis.
